Top 10 Websites I use to save money

More and more friends and family have begun asking me what sites I use to save money. I always have to think about which ones I use the most, depending on the situation, and recall them from memory. So, I thought it might be better if I just wrote a post on it to share with everyone and to help my memory;)

  1. Groupon. I have used this in the OKC area a couple of times, and gotten some really good deals. The key is to make sure it’s something you’d spend money on anyway, and you’re not buying it just because it seems like a good deal. Sure you can save 50% at a store, but if you weren’t planning to purchase something there, you’re actually spending money you didn’t intend to spend.
  2. Swagbucks. I think they took away the option to get points when shopping at stores, but I do use the search and win function when I am researching deals. I research almost every purchase I make. I find it’s beneficial to shop with a purpose. I am purposeful in only buying what we need, and getting the best deal possible when I do need to purchase something.
  3. Practical Frugality. My main blog. I have linked to a page where I have links to many manufacturer and coupon sites. When I am planning my shopping trips, I visit my page and click to find and print coupons for the items on my list.
  4. Money Saving Mom. She has bloggers that help her, and she links to their blogs. You can search by the stores in your area, and find bloggers who post deals for them. I then go to their sites and find the deals that match-up to my list and menu plans, and make sure I haven’t missed anything.
  5. Foursquare. I have this app on my phone. Many times stores and restaurants will give you a discount if you “check in” when you’re there. Sometimes people on Facebook and Twitter wonder why so many people check in so often when they’re out. This is why. THEY ARE SAVING MONEY, lol;)
  6. My bank. If I am thinking of spending money on something that I want instead of something I need, I always check my bank and LOOK at my balance. I usually think of all the other things I could be spending that money on or saving for, and decide not to make the purchase.
  7. Ebates. This is the site I tend to use when making online purchases. It has rebates to most of the retailers I shop at, and gives me cash back on my purchases, as well as discount codes that are current. Most of my family lives out of state, so I shop online for birthday and holiday gifts. It saves me time, and money on shipping, and I get cash back on purchases I needed to make anyway, which is always nice!
  8. Facebook. SO MANY companies offer deals and coupons on Facebook. “LIKE” the brands you use so you don’t miss out on special deals, coupons, giveaways, and sweepstakes.
  9. Twitter. Same as facebook!
  10. Viewpoints. I am a member here, and I post reviews here. This site has really helpful reviews so you can research items before you buy them. If you buy a bad product, you have wasted money when it doesn’t work for you. So, make sure you are getting the product to best meet YOUR specific wants and needs before you buy!
