7 Easy Steps you can take to check your hotel room for Bed Bugs
A few years ago, back when Oprah was on TV, she had a show one day on Bed Bugs. That show changed the frequency of my linen washing routine, and because I am so grossed out by the prospect of picking up bed bugs while traveling, I have a whole routine I go through in hotel rooms, etc. I came across an infographic today that shows 7 Easy Steps you can take to check your hotel room for Bed Bugs. I’ve included it below so you can see it too, and share it or Pin It so your friends and family can be aware too.
I had a friend in Oklahoma that picked up Bed Bugs in a hotel. She had to go through an extensive cleaning of EVERYTHING in her house, placing everything outdoors so the house could be fumigated (they got into the walls and carpet before she knew they were there), and then each item had to be slowly sanitized before it could be brought back in. Some things had to be thrown out. It took more than one attempt to get them out of her things, and eventually, she just moved, replacing most of her possessions.
I am now very thorough checking things before I bring my belongings into a hotel room. When my kids spend the night away, I immediately wash everything they come home with – no offense to any of our friends. I wash all the linens in my house three times a week, and vacuum the mattresses, etc. and we use bed covers to protect and extend the life of our mattresses.
I had the intention of including a picture at the top, so you could see what they look like, but it just grosses me out to see them. If you’re unsure, google it, and click on images 🙂
