Fall is approaching and I’m so excited. I love watching the leaves change colors, the temperatures fall, and enjoy having my windows open during the day! I’m also inspired to get some fall cleaning done, before the snow sets in, and I’m working tirelessly to try and squeeze my car into the garage this year! I’ve been browsing Pinterest for some Fall Cleaning Schedules, and thought I’d share my 10 favorite with you. I’ve also created a board for them, so they’re easy for me to locate again next year!
I try to break my cleaning to do lists down into smaller, more manageable tasks. Our schedule is just too busy for me to be able to do deep cleanings as often as I’d like, but I do try to get a good deep clean in twice a year, in the spring and fall. Once a year just isn’t enough to keep the dust away though 🙂
I’d also like to add things I try to do on the first day of each new season, because it’s easy for me to remember to do them on those days!
- Check/change batteries in all smoke detectors
- Change air filters in furnace and air purifiers (we also change the heating filters monthly during the winter months because it makes our furnace run more efficiently)
- The “Great Clothes Clean Out” {I gather all of the kids outgrown clothes and shoes from the previous season, as well as any toys, etc. and donate them}.

What is your MUST CLEAN item or tip for the Fall Season?
I often get emails from people asking what brands I use/prefer, so I’ve broken down my preferred products by room. I want to note that this post is NOT sponsored or endorsed by any brand mentioned, though some are affiliate links. I’ve been married twenty years. Products have changed over the years, as well as our cleaning needs. We currently live in New England, have well water, and septic for sewer. I’ve had to adjust my cleaning products to fit this need, because the items I used when we were on municipal water and sewer weren’t meeting our need. Some of these items are new, but I am SO THANKFUL that the brands created them, because they provided a solution to problems we were having. Specifically, with our toilets, which I was cleaning – SCRUBBING – daily, trying to fight the stains the well water was leaving on the porcelain, and not having much success!
This is the before/after of the toilet that I was cleaning every day for months, and couldn’t get those stains off the porcelain. To be clear, it’s not dirt, rather hard water stains and lime deposits. Scrubbing with a toothbrush did nothing. I kept researching things to try, and buying different cleaners to no avail. One day, I stumbled across a blog post where they recommended the Pumie Scouring Stick. I found the 2 pack as Add-on Items at Amazon, so I figured I’d give it a try. I was skeptical, after trying so many products, but amazed that they really worked! I grabbed my camera to snap a quick before/after picture when I was halfway done, because I knew I needed to share with others who may be struggling with this too. In fact, I’ve recommended it to many of my neighbors, since we’re all on well water, and dealing with this! I knew I couldn’t take a picture later, because I use this weekly now, to keep all the stains away, and it stays nice, shiny, and CLEAN easily now 🙂 The Lysol Lime is what I use now to clean with the brush, then follow it up with a quick round of the scouring stick.

I’ve never done a “fall cleaning” per se, but it’s a great idea to do it before the house gets sealed up for the winter!
These checklists are a great way to stay on top of house work. I use to try to do the 15mins a day in each room but always ended up spending 45mis scrubbing the floors on my hands and knees. I have major OCD and this has really helped me Thank You
