When your bathroom looks a bit worse for wear, you might be tempted to consider a complete renovation. This is especially tempting if your home is a bit older and the design of the bathroom is outdated and in desperate need of modernisation.
The problem is that, the cost of doing a complete bathroom renovation can be incredibly high. This is why I wanted to look into updating my bathroom with few design changes, that will make the space look amazing but without the large price tag.
The good news is that you don’t have to go through an entire renovation just to get the type of look that you want in your bathroom. Some simpler options can completely refresh the space without going overboard.
One thing I always recommended is not to attempt to do your plumbing when doing a bathroom update because plumbing work can be complex and requires a certain level of expertise. Without proper training and knowledge, you could end up causing more damage to your plumbing system, which could lead to costly repairs in the future. It’s always best to hire a licensed plumber to handle any plumbing work during a bathroom update to ensure that the work is done safely and correctly.
Here are just a few of the ways in which you can refresh your bathroom without having to go through the cost and stress of a complete bathroom renovation.
Upgrade the bathroom sink
Updating your bathroom sink is a great way to give your bathroom a fresh new look. First, you’ll need to choose the right type of sink that fits your style and budget. There are many options available, including pedestal sinks, vessel sinks, and undermount sinks. Once you’ve chosen your sink, it’s best to contact professional plumbing company to help you to change it and update any plumbing around the sink that might need to be done.

Change or paint the wall Tiles
Since most bathrooms are usually tiled, changing or updating the tiles makes a big difference in how your bathroom looks. Whether the tiles in your shower require an update or if the floors could do with some fresh tiles, you will be surprised at just how big a difference new tiling can make.
Compared with the cost of a complete renovation, the price of new tiles in your bathroom is definitely on the affordable side of things.
Add in More bathroom Storage
Oftentimes, the reason that a bathroom feels as though it needs an update is because there is simply too much clutter about. From extra towels to multiple products lying about, clutter can make a bathroom feel dingy and cramped very quickly.
In order to combat this issue, incorporate some additional storage in your bathroom. You can opt for some creative shelving on the wall or go with something more discrete and space-saving. By hiding away all of the clutter in your bathroom, you can make the space feel renewed and refreshed with ease.
Swap Out the sink or bath Taps
One small feature in your bathroom that can have a big impact on the design and feel of the space is the taps. If the taps in your bathroom are dated and well worned, consider swapping them out for some newer designs.
Chrome is a timeless finish option that can instantly revive any bathroom. If your bathroom has a more vintage feel to it, you can go with something like gold or rubbed bronze. Such fixtures can serve as a design focal point that can really bring new life into your bathroom.
Introduce green plants
Another way to update your bathroom is simply adding some live plants. Many plants can thrive in a bathroom because of the warm and humid environment. Over the years I have been able to successfully grow the following plants in the bathroom: spider plant, various ferns, aloe vera, peace lily, bamboo and palms
All of these plants are great at tolerating low light and high humidity conditions, and I’ve always found them easy to grow and keep, just make sure that you give your plants plenty of day light.
