By now, my regular readers know that I am a big fan of saving money with Groupon. I have a running list of items that are due to be upgraded or replaced in the coming months, and the Groupon website is at the top of the list of sites I check regularly to see if any items we need are on sale or have special promotions. There are so many great deals on Groupon Goods!
With 5 people in our house, it seems like new Pillows are frequently needed. I have an Auto Immune Disease that makes it really difficult for me to get comfortable enough to sleep. My Rheumatologist suggested multiple pillows to help, so I have four that just I use each night 🙂 Pillows can last anywhere from about 6 months, up to 20 years, depending on the make and manufacturer. Be sure to save warranty information! The frugal side of me would like to be able to buy the same pillow for everyone in the house, and a couple of extra for the linen closet, when I find a great deal. However, it seems like we cannot agree on what the “perfect” pillow is, and we all like something different.
Every so often when we are in a store that sells pillows, we’ll browse the selection, and the different family members will test them all out. Typically they are NOT on sale when this happens, so we don’t buy them when we browse. Instead, I use the Notes section on my phone. I have notes for everything, I’m a list maker, haha! Under the Pillows Note, I list each family member name, and pillow preference. I know what brand, model, firmness, etc everybody wants. Then, the Groupon Pillow watching begins.
If you visit the Groupon Pillows page, you will see that they offer many of the more expensive pillows at a deep discount. I found a pillow similar to one I fell in love with at a hotel this summer during our road trip. Regular price $170 (I AM NOT PAYING $170 FOR ANY PILLOW!). Groupon Price, $29.99. That is MUCH more aligned with my budget! I am all about an 82% discount!
When should pillows be replaced?
- When they are discolored or heavily stained. Some can be laundered, some cannot. If stains can’t be washed out, it may be time to replace.
- You wake up frequently with headaches or neck pain. Look for underlying medical causes, and also consider if you are getting the neck support you need from your pillow.
- Do you know how old your pillow is? If it’s been SO long you can’t remember, it’s probably time to replace 🙂
- Are you finding it necessary to fold it in half because it has lumps and weird shapes? I’ll admit, sometimes that’s when they just start to feel broken in, but realistically, it’s probably time to replace it.
