Celebrating the end of a year is always a big occasion and a great way to spend the last day of the year with the one you love. If you find yourself single on the New Years Day, there are still plenty of ways to find your true love.

So, while you can find your perfect match on the dating site, in this blog post, I wanted to share with you my top 10 tips on meeting somebody in real life. I’ve included a few budget-friendly options to help you to pick the right one for you. And remember, go with your instinct and choose the option that’s ‘you’ to help you to find your perfect match.
1. Go ice scatting
Ice scatting is a fun way to spend a few hours, get some exercise and meet other people. Don’t worry if you are not exactly the world ice skating champion, falling (literally) into the arms of a handsome stranger might be exactly what you need.
2. Join a queue for New Year’s Day Sales
I know that this one is a bit of a wild card, but how about combining both pleasure and being practical at the same time. If you join the queue early enough, you’ll have plenty of time to chat with others, and you never know, you might bag not just a bargain in the sales!
3. Murder event mystery dinner
Choose an evening where the entertainment will be already organised for you, like a murder mystery dinner, so your only job is to enjoy yourself. Following the murder story plot will be great fun and guessing whos done it, is an excellent conversational starter with your fellow dinners.

4. Book a short skying break
If you are single and you don’t fancy spending the festive time alone, you can always book a short winter break. Just imagine yourself taking part in skying lessons and having rest afterwards in a cosy mountain restaurant. You never know, there might be other single people that you can join at the hotel bar and start a conversation.
5. Stay at home
The next tip on how to meet your love on a New Years Eve is probably the easiest one yet. I’m going to suggest to simply log in to your computer and create a profile on welovedates.com. To get a chance to meet somebody like-minded, be truthful in your profile and try to add as much relevant information as possible. Mention your hobbies, likes and dislikes and include your photo. It’s best to choose a current photo, to make sure people recognise you when you meet up.
6. Go to a party
If you are feeling like putting your glad rags on, the best way to meet somebody on New Year’s Eve is to go to a party. Best is probably to join your friend’s party, rather than randomly pick any party. This way, you’ll at least know somebody and won’t feel too weird in a room full of strangers.
7. Join a local walk
I wanted to share with you a few tips that are also frugal. So the next tip is to look up what’s happening locally in your area and join a group walk. This is a fab way to meet new people without making it too awkward. People love to chat as they walk, and there is no pressure to follow up if you don’t meet somebody who you like.
8. Volunteer to help out at a local charity
If you are an introvert, like me, you might find some social occasions (like parties) quite awkward. I fell more at ease when I have a purpose, so volunteering at a local charity on a New Years Eve is just a perfect way to do something useful and meet new people.

9. Go to a local fireworks
There is always much excitement in the air watching fireworks, and you don’t need to be a couple to have fun joining in. You never know, the person who will be the closest to you at midnight might be the perfect person to kiss and celebrate the New Years Day with.
10. Visit a museum
If you are into art or history, why not visit a museum or your local gallery. You never know, you might find a likeminded person who enjoys the same topic as you do. It’s always much easier to strike a conversation if you have something in common, and you can bond over a cup of coffee in the museum coffee shop.
