It all seems like an outer body experience, doesn’t it? The engagement, the ring, the phone calls to friends and family, the insurmountable love you feel towards your partner. Then there is nothing like looking at how much your dream wedding is going to cost to bring you crashing back down to earth.
Of course you want your dream wedding, no doubt you will have been dreaming about it for some time. However, a lot of the time those unrealistic price tags can make your dream wedding feel just like that, a dream.
So, what steps can you take to save money on your wedding without sacrificing the actual experience?
Decide on What Is Non-Negotiable
Before you start cutting on costs, decide what you consider is an absolute must. Take photography, for example. If this is not an important aspect for you then maybe ask a family friend with a keen interest in cameras to capture your day.
On the flip side, if you want to use a photographer who is able to capture a moment in a picture like nobody else, so that you have images of your special day you can look back on that make your heart swell every time, you will want to consult pros such as Rife Ponce Photography. This Chicago Wedding Photographer is able to create time capsules with their camera, giving you a constant glowing reminder of what will be one of the happiest day of your life.
Use Less Expensive Invites
Whilst an engraved wedding invitation can look nice, it can also be incredibly expensive. Realistically, a lot of your guests will more than likely not keep a copy of your wedding invite and so this is an aspect where you could save some crucial pennies.
There are several other options available to you that would be perfect depending on your comfort level. These are:
- Use high-quality paper and then design and print your own invitations at home
- Use a website that specializes in printing to get some less expensive invites
- Look for thermography invitations. On these, the raised words usually mimic the look of an engraved invite but at a much lower cost.
Only Invite Those You Truly Love and Want to Be There
So, you have your invitations, now who are you going to send them to? The guestlist to a wedding has the ability to spiral out of control before you even know what has happened.
The constant dilemma of inviting X which means you have to invite Y, and Y will need a plus one and so on can wrack up the cost of your venue exponentially.
Well, it is time to get selfish. This is your special day and so the only people going should be people that you genuinely want to be there.
Pick a Venue Somewhere Naturally Beautiful
To save money on decorations at the wedding venue, pick somewhere that has natural beauty and use what is on hand to create the perfect backdrop to your wedding.
Depending on the time of year, a lot of churches are already decorated gorgeously and so these could make for a great wedding venue without the added cost of making it actually look like one.
