Have you just had a new kitchen installed? If so then you will want to make sure that you keep it looking as nice as possible. If you don’t then you may find that your money ends up going down the drain, which is the last thing you need. One way for you to work around that would be for you to take steps to help yourself, now.
Cleaning
This may sound obvious, but you do need to keep your kitchen looking as clean as possible. Use the right products for the right surfaces and always avoid products that contain strong alcohol or solvents. For light marks, use a damp cloth with water. When you are cooking, take the time to wipe any splashes immediately so you can stop them from staining.
Sunlight
As stunning as your kitchen may look when it is bathed in sunlight, you have to remember that exposing your units to too much sun is a bad idea. You may find that your countertops end up fading and becoming discolored, which is the last thing you need. If you want to avoid this then one thing you can do is opt for granite worktops. Take note of what your cupboard doors are made out of too, as this will help you to keep a nice sheen.
Accessories
Make sure that items, such as kettles, toasters and more are not under wall units. This is especially the case if you have under-cabinet lighting. Remember, rising steam can cause a lot of swelling and this can affect your lighting in more ways than one.
Stainless Steel
Stainless steel appliances look great in the kitchen but they can also be a magnet for dust. This is especially the case if you have kids who have grubby fingers. If you want to keep them clean then use microfiber cloths that are designed for stainless steel. Apply a very thin layer of baby oil as this helps the appliances to retain its sheen while also keeping dust at bay.
Worktops
If you have a nice new worktop then one thing you need to do is use a chopping board. If you don’t then you may find that you end up marking the countertop and the only way for you to fix this would be for you to get it replaced. If you are having a hard time keeping your worktop looking nice then one thing you can do is invest in a countertop cover. This is usually a very thin layer of acrylic, and it helps to safeguard your counter underneath from a range of damages. Little investments like this can make a major difference. If you want to step things up a notch then another thing you can do is get a knife block. This will stop you from putting knives down directly onto the countertop, so make sure that you keep that in mind as it will make a major difference to your home and how things look over the next few years.
