This blog post, Pampering Cuddles at Petco, is part of a paid Megan Media and #PetcoGrooming blogging program. The opinions and ideas expressed here are my own.
Cuddles is the Princess of our home. With three boys, a cat who loves one of them and tolerates the rest of us, Cuddles is the only female in the house that enjoys the frilly side of life. She gets SO excited to go on a car ride. When we get to our local Petco, her tail wags furiously, and she can’t wait to get inside to be adored and loved on by the employees and fellow customers.
When we get to the grooming area, she loves to have everyone fawn over her, and pet her… until the moment she realizes she’s about to get a B-A-T-H. She is a princess after all, and while she doesn’t like to be dirty, she also does NOT like to be wet! The excitement gives way to howling, until the torture is over, and then she begins to purr, almost like a kitten, while she’s being dried. The excitement and happiness returns as they brush her, and trim her hair. If you’re ever in the Nashua, NH area, Cat is our Petco Certified Stylist, and she does a wonderful job with our princess, Cuddles always comes home happy and looking so cute!!!
Cuddles is a rescue dog. We think she is part Maltese and part Poodle (Maltie Poo), and her hair grows pretty rapidly in the spring and summer months. We take her in to be groomed every 3-4 weeks during the spring and summer, so her hair stays short, to help keep her cool. It also helps us make sure she hasn’t picked up any fleas or ticks. We spray our yard and give her a topical treatment after each grooming session, but ticks are very bad in our area, and we want to avoid them. In between each visit to the grooming salon, we brush her each day, and she LOVES it!
On this visit, Cuddles got the All American Spa Package and a Face, Feet, and Fanny Trim. She’d just had a full service groom about 3 weeks ago, before we went out of town, and didn’t need a full cut just yet. However, after riding over 3,500 miles roundtrip in the car with us, she really needed a good bath.
*The All American Spa Package comes with a shampoo and conditioner treatment, a watermelon spritz (Smells so good!), a bandana, and three spa upgrades. For her upgrades, they gave her a 15 minute extra brush, a nail buff, and a paw balm application.
If you look at the Grooming section of the Petco Website, you can get some great info, specific to your area, with prices and services offered. This is an example of what it looks like in my area:
One of the things I personally like most about the grooming service at Petco is the 7 point Pet Care Check. Our pets go to the veterinarian regularly for checkups and such, it’s comforting to me as a pet owner to know that our groomer is also concerned about our furry loved one, and looking out for her to make sure everything looks as it should in between visits!
Once the beauty treatment is complete, she gets to march over to the treat and toy section to pick out her reward for being a good girl. When we were visiting my parents, their dog had a bone just like this. They had an extra one that Cuddles could play with, but each dog wanted the other dog’s bone (just like children, haha!). She was so happy to get home and enjoy this bone all to herself!
Until the moment Bella thought she should inspect it. It should be noted that Bella typically avoids Cuddles. Cuddles loves Bella and tries to play with her daily. Bella hisses and runs away to areas of the house that Cuddles isn’t allowed in, so she isn’t bothered. Over the years, we’ve purchased many cat treats and toys, but Bella is not a fan, and ignores them. She also normally doesn’t pay any attention to Cuddles treats or toys. For some reason though, this bone looked enticing!
Our local Petco store is very accommodating, and has several really nice groomers that work in the salon. They’ve always been able to schedule us within a day or two if we need it, though I sometimes schedule the next appointment when I pick her up. It’s easy to make an appointment, and we had no paperwork to complete. We just showed proof of her rabies vaccination before the first visit, and it was good for 3 years!

I’d love to hear your Pets grooming stories too! Do they love it? Hate it? Tolerate it? A mixture of it all, like our dog?! Any advice or funny stories you’d like to share?
