As I’m entering my fourth decade, I have begun to really notice a change in my skin. During my thirties, it was a gradual change, but in the past year or so, I’ve really started to notice more pronounced changes. Keeping my skin healthy, is a top priority to me. When I saw the opportunity to partner with Neutrogena to test out the Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair and Ultra Sheer collections, available at CVS, I knew I had to give it a try. I took pictures each morning (make up free!), to show you the before, during, and after of my trial. I’m pretty impressed with the anti aging regimen, and am happy to share that while everyone’s results may differ, mine have been really positive.
These are the products I received to try out:
Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair Night Moisturizer
Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 30
Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair Serum
Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair Eye Cream
Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Liquid Daily Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 70
Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Face + Body Stick Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 70
Skin is the body’s largest organ, which is why it is SO important to keep it healthy, and looking it’s best. Eating right and drinking plenty of water are great places to start, but as we age, we may also need to use anti aging products to help prevent damage. Neutrogena shared that, “many dermatologists agree that using a combination of retinol and a broad-spectrum sunscreen can not only help fight the signs of aging, but also prevent new damage. Pairing Neutrogena Accelerated Retinol SA with Helioplex Technology work together to form the ultimate anti-aging power duo.” With science behind these products, I feel confident going into my trial.
Here is my Journal of makeup free daily selfies, along my 7 Day Journey. Please keep in mind I normally wear glasses, and am almost blind without them. I removed them for the pictures, so you could see my wrinkles in all of their glory as they disappeared 🙂 It’s hard to take a selfie though, when you can’t see the image you’re capturing, haha:
Day 1: I took my earlier morning photograph, where all of my lines, wrinkles, and dark circles under my eyes. I applied the Rapid Wrinkle Repair Moisturizer with Broad Spectrum SPF 30 to my entire face, then applied the Rapid Wrinkle Repair Eye Cream around my eyes. Then, I applied my makeup like normal, to proceed with my day. Later that afternoon, my son had sports practice, where we are outside for a couple of hours. I used the Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Liquid Daily Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 70, and it really protected my skin! As you can see, I have really fair skin, and some medication I take makes me ultra sensitive to the sun, and I burn fast. I didn’t use my umbrella like I normally do, to test out the sunscreen, and I’m happy to say that I did not burn 🙂 Before bed, I washed my face like normal, and used the Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair Night Moisturizer.
Day 2: I followed the same routine from Day 1, except I alternated to use the Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair Serum instead of the Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 30, just to try it out. I knew I’d be indoors all day, and so I’d be fine without SPF. It worked just as well as the Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 30. I’m really liking that these don’t make my hands or face feel oily or greasy, and I feel like I’m already noticing slight improvement in my skin. Before bed, I stuck with the Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair Night Moisturizer after washing my face.
I’m excited to know that Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair is the fastest retinol formula available. The products are encouraging me with the promise of visible results in one week. I already knew that Retinol was the #1 Dermatologist recommended anti-aging ingredient, I just needed to find the right combination of products that contain it, to use on my skin. Retinol is THE most studied anti aging ingredient, because it’s been clinically proven to reduce the signs of aging by helping to enhance surface skin renewal, so it complements the skins natural processes.
Day 3: We had a minor incident with one of my kids that required a trip to the ER (nothing serious) overnight, so I didn’t get my normal amount of sleep. I was expecting my skin to look rough, but it wasn’t as bad as I anticipated 🙂 I washed my face, took my diary photo selfie, and applied the Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 30. I went through my day as normal, and before bed washed my face again and used the Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair Night Moisturizer.
Day 4: Had a great night’s sleep, and woke up feeling refreshed. Washed my face, and took a good morning selfie to show you how I’m progressing. Followed up with the Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair Serum to start the day. During this test, I’m continuing to eat my normal diet of food, drinking plenty of water, and getting about 30 minutes of exercise. These are all important to good health and skin care maintenance, and I didn’t want to vary my routine while I’m trying out new products. I want to make sure whatever product I find to stick with long term works well with my normal habits 🙂 Before bed, I washed my face like normal, and used the Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair Night Moisturizer.
When I was much younger, I was not kind to my skin. Not only did I “tan” with oils and lotions that contained very little SPF, I also used tanning beds frequently. I was oblivious to what UVA and UVB rays were doing to my skin. It’s no surprise to me that the exposure from those UVA rays can lead to premature fine lines, deep wrinkles and uneven skin tone, and that is contributing to the way my skin is aging. Neutrogena Ultra Sheer sunscreen line features advanced, dermatologist-tested formulas with Helioplex Technology. I am not a fan of sunscreen that feels thick and heavy, and leaves my hands and face feeling oily. I’m really impressed with the texture of the Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Liquid Daily Sunscreen Broad Spectrum SPF 70. It feels very light, and not at all oily to me. It left my skin with an even, non shiny finish, so that I felt comfortable when I chose to go without makeup.
Day 5: I slept well again, and woke up right on time. Washing my face each morning and using the Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 30 is working well as part of my routine. My kids also notice my habit since I’m now taking pictures of my face each morning! It makes our morning go smoother, because they don’t grumble about having to wash their own faces after breakfast, before they head off to school for the day. I’m hoping that by setting an example of good skin care while they’re growing up, it’ll become habit when they are adults. Before bed, I washed my face like normal, and used the Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair Night Moisturizer. It was gray and rainy outside, so I had to take this picture in front of the window, without much natural light.
Day 6: Since I’ve been using the Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair Serum every other day, I continued to use that today. Before bed, I washed my face like normal, and used the Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair Night Moisturizer. The rain was gone today, and the sun was bright! I was able to take this selfie under the patio umbrella, and it makes me look my skin has a little color, but really it’s the light reflecting off the umbrella 🙂
I’m impressed to know that Neutrogena was the first brand to launch pure, stabilized retinol in the U.S. in 1996. That was the year I was married twenty years ago! It’s no surprise to me that Neutrogena has their own scientists who spend many hours researching the right ingredients to use, and the combinations to use them with, so they can boost and improve their own line of products to deliver results quickly. Their new research shows that by using retinol on a regular basis, you’ll notice improvements. I’d rarely thought about the skin “inside” the wrinkle, but Neutrogena shares that it’s often compromised by photo damage. If we leave that untreated, the wrinkles might continue to get deeper, and then your skin will lose its volume and fullness. I’ve found that to be very true with my own skin, which is why I like a rapid product to help get it on the right path quickly, then I’ll continue to use it on a regular basis, to maintain it.
Day 7: Can you see the difference? I am very happy to say that I feel like my skin looks a bit younger, and it definitely FEELS younger. I think it’s improved my wrinkles, dark eye circles, fine lines, the texture, and even the tone of my skin. It’s also really gentle on my skin, so it doesn’t feel like it’s endured any harsh chemicals. I tried to match the lighting to the Day 1 picture as much as possible, so you could get a true before/after comparison of my results. The angle was harder to capture, but hopefully you can see the improvements that I see 🙂
Even though my “test” is over, I do plan to continue with the routine I’ve established this week using the products I’ve mentioned. I love the way they are making my skin look and feel!
