In the past year or so, my youngest son, Logan, who just turned 8, has developed a passion for Golf. This is also my child who is very active, and was diagnosed with ADHD, so it’s completely unbelievable to see him sit quiet and still watching PGA on television for hours! I only wish I knew he like Golf this much years ago, we would’ve been watching the PGA channel on cable all along! When we moved to New England, Nick’s new boss mentioned that his son is an avid golfer, and spends hours practicing, and he travels to many tournaments (and wins!). Coincidentally, both boys are left handed, so they generously offered to let Logan have a set of Left Handed Junior size golf clubs. He now really enjoys going outside and being able to practice hitting balls.
Disclosure: In exchange for sharing about this promotion with you, they have been kind enough to offer my family 2 FREE adult tickets (kids get in free) so that we can take Logan down, and he can see a PGA Tournament! Nick will be going with his boss, and the two boys, and I’ll be sharing about their trip at a later date. Regardless, all thoughts and opinions expressed are solely my own.
Over Labor Day Weekend, the PGA will be playing the 2013 Deutsche Bank Championship down in Norton, MA, which is only about an hour away from where we live. They have a new kid’s policy this year, and children under the age of 15 can get into the PGA Tournament FREE with a ticketed adult!
On Wednesday August 28th, they will be having the First Annual Community Appreciation Day. At this time, admission will be free to all spectators who will have an opportunity to view the practice rounds before the tournament officially begins. They will also feature Mascot Appearances from The Bruins (Hi Blades, this mama loves Hockey!) and The Revolution (Hi Slyde, the middle son, Joshua, loves Soccer!) in the Kids Village from Noon until 1:30pm. Photos and Mini Golf will be made available to kids.
I am impressed with the efforts being made to make this such a family friendly event. They are also offering Family Perks (Up Front Parking at the Comcast Center, Easily Accessible Parent/Child Restrooms, and Children’s Concession Areas), and Fun Activities for Kids (Face Painting, Video Games, Kids Golf Games, Arts & Crafts – All in the Kids Village, Designated “Kid Zone” areas that Championship Volunteers will securely staff at all times, Viewing Areas at the 1st Tee, 9th Green, 10th Tee, 16th Green, and 18th Green, and a Chance for Autographs! The PGA Tour Players will be passing through an autograph area on their way back to the locker rooms, so fans of all ages will have a chance to meet them and get autographs! Not all sports players are that accommodating, it’s nice to see that they appreciate their fans 🙂
