I am really excited to be able to share with you about a new FREE Doctor On Demand app, available in iTunes and Google Play stores. I personally have many long time friends who have lost their health insurance this year, and were not able to afford the rates on the “Affordable Care Act” Health Insurance Exchange. Many others are in danger of losing theirs next year, due to rate increases with their current companies that they know they can no longer afford to pay. The cost of using the Doctor On Demand app is $40 (cheaper than my personal specialist co-pay WITH a good insurance company!).
All of the Doctors in the Doctor On Demand program are US licensed and board certified, and go through a background check, so you can rest assured you are in the care of a professional. The best part, is that you can video chat right away with a real live doctor, you don’t have to wait for an appointment! If you need additional assurance, the company is co-founded by Jay McGraw, creater and Executive Producer of The Doctors TV program, and his father, Dr Phil, is an advisor as well.
I downloaded the FREE app on my iPhone, and it gave me a screen to register or log in on, and asks you to explain your symptoms, allergies, and current medications. Next, you enter your credit card info ($40 for up to 15 minutes – you only pay when you talk, and there are NO subscription fees! Use coupon code PF14 for$10 off the price of a call! ). Next, you can have an audio or video chat with a licensed doctor. They can offer advice, treatment via a prescription, or a referral if you need to see someone in person. Finally, they will ask you to rate the doctor and offer feedback so they can ensure the service is of the highest quality.
Last week, I started feeling like a cold was coming on. I went to bed really early (6 pm) and got a good nights rest, but by the morning I was pretty sick. I had a fever of 102, terrible cough and chest congestion, my throat was swollen, and it hurt to breathe. Clearly I needed to see a doctor for an antibiotic, but I also have Rheumatoid Arthritis and my immune system has been low recently due to some other issues, and I was aware that Hand, Foot, Mouth Disease is going around in our immediate area (it’s very contagious), so I did not want to go to my Primary Care doctor. I called, but she was booked for 2 days, wouldn’t call me in a prescription without seeing me, and suggested I see another doctor in the practice the following day. Instead, I decided to give this service a try, since I knew I would be writing about it anyway.
I registered on the site and completed my information, and was able to speak with a doctor within minutes. I explained my issues and was able to get a prescription sent to my pharmacy right away. I drove down the street to the drive thru to pick it up, and felt better by the next morning. I was quite happy and pleased that I was able to get my illness addressed and treated right away so that I felt better as quickly as possible. With three kids home from school on summer vacation, it’s not an ideal time to be sick (is there ever a good time?!). The doctor was friendly and knowledgeable, and it’s definitely a service I will recommend personally to friends and family.
You can use the service for:
- Flue, Colds, Allergies, Cough, Sinus Infections
- Rash or Pink Eye
- Asthma
- Bladder Infections
- Pediatric Questions
- Prescription Refills
- Specialist Referrals
- Many other Non-life threatening cases
DO NOT USE the service for life threatening issues, such as:
- Chest Pain/Pressure
- Poisoning
- Seizures
- Serious Head, Neck, or Back Injuries
- Broken Bones
We would like to celebrate the fact that you can now talk to a board certified doctor (on demand!) from the comfort of your own home, thanks to the Doctor On Demand app…. with a great giveaway.
I like that you can video chat with a dr
I like the idea of getting medical advice from a doctor when I need it instead of waiting for an appointment (days or weeks) or getting the advice from a receptionist or other non-doctor.
This would be great. As someone that works from 9-5, it makes it really difficult to see a doctor. Getting the care when I need it on my time is great.
To see what symptoms could be and if they are serious or minor.
Its very hard for me to get to the doctors with my husbands work schedule. This would be great to use during those times. Also it could help determine if the kids would really need to go to the doctors office.
My husband has been having a lot of health issues, lately and refuses to go to a Dr. or Hospital so this would be very helpful.

Often I am going online to the Mayo Clinic or Web MD website if I have questions about my families health. This would make it possible to have my questions answered easily while out.
I like that I can self diagnose.
I think it would help when you can’t get to the doctor or they are closed and you don’t want to go to the emergency room which is so much more money if you don’t have to.
this app would be useful for checking into what could be the reason for various symptoms my family experiences
I have insurance where I have to meet the deduct before I can collect anything. This would help in deciding if something is minor or not.
With three kids this could benefit me a lot. There might be a time where I can not get to the doctors or get thru to my kids doctor. I would feel at ease with this.
I’d like to use Dr. On Demand to help me diagnose more minor health problems. I have an autoimmune condition, so I would certainly get a lot of use out of it!
